Tips For Entering Art Competitions

Tips For Enhancing Your Chances in Competitions

1.       Do your research – find competitions that best suit your current skills. For example if your work is an oil painting – find a competition with a oil painting section.
2.      Present your best work, rather than lots of entries.
3.      Before completing the entry form read careful all the competition rules. Often there are rules around the time frame in which the work was completed.
4.      Check you diary, can you delivery your work on time to the right place. Write these dates in your diary or on your calendar. If you need others to deliver you work and collect it ask the person first.
5.      The work you deliver to the exhibition must be the work listed on the enter form.  Tip: Label your work when completed.  With your name, date completed and what you will call the work. Keep a copy of the entry form and when it’s time to deliver the work you deliver the correct work.
6.       Make sure all work on canvas or paper is sealed with the correct sealant.
7.      Check to see if your work needs to be framed.
8.      Check for any size limits.
9.      Check that your work is ready to hand. Correct hooks are connected in the right place and string is attached.

10.  Ensure your work is pack for the best protection especially when sending work by courier.      .
