New Partner

We would like to extend our thanks and welcome to our new partner Access Arts for 2014. Access Arts will be providing direct support to our Project Officer, Debbie Chilton to allow her to efficiently deliver our ArtISability Programs through 2014.

This bursary was awarded to Debbie through Access Arts’ Rising Star Program. We also extend our appreciation to Arts Quensland as partners of the 2013 Access Arts Rising Star Program, which in the addition to Debbie's bursary to assist in the commencement of ArtISability in 2014, has assisted in Debbie's Professional Development as an arts worker throughout 2013.

Founded in 2013

Debbie designed the concept of ArtISability while undertaking leadership training with the Nationals Leaders For Tomorrow Program. The program trained 200 leaders with disabilities to be advocates in their chosen fields.

Debbie embarked on training allowing to work in the arts Industry. Using her experience as President of Community Access Transitional Services and her passion for visual arts she designed a program that would enable other artists to have a professional voice in there local arts community.

Debbie is a local Ipswich Poet, Author and Artists having served the local arts community in various roles for the last 14 years.

If you want Deb to do something, just tell her she can't and step back and let her prove you wrong!

You can choose the person you would like to support you in either applying for a job with us or applying for a place in our program. ArtISability is committed to focusing on ability and enabling our staff and participants to cross the barriers society has created.

We also encourage people with disabilities including mental illness to submit an express of interest in presenting workshops on our behalf and can support artists to write their workshop materials and provide trainee ships and mentors during the process.
